     Experts say that some fruit juices are also good for healthy and glowing skin. Carrot juice is great for skin because it consist of vitamin A, known to avert pimples, spots caused by sun damage and wrinkles.

Apple juice make sure skin doesn't  age prematurely.

Orange juice is good for skin glowing and toned complexion.

Papaya juice keep skin healthy from within by curing skin problems.

Aloe vera juice is excellent for the skin, it contains number of minerals and vitamins, and known for elasticity of skin and wrinkle free skin.

Fruits and vegetables which people store wrongly
     Many people purchase fruits and vegetables and happily store them in their refrigerators thinking that they will be fresh. However people don't realise that they are storing their fruits and vegetables wrongly.

     People should realise that fruits and vegetables cannot exist together. Fruits which produce ethylene gas which acts as ripening hormone resulting in spoilage.

     Vegetables need air and so one should make holes in the plastic bags. People shouldn't clean the product till they intend to use as dampness encourages bacteria growth.

     People generally store garlic,onions, potatoes,Asparagus,carrots, brussels sprouts,cucumbers,celery,tomatoes, bananas in a wrong manner


Consume more fruits and vegetable for good health


According to the “Global Phytonutrient Report 2014” released by Nutrilite Health Institute here Monday, 60 to 87 percent adults globally fall short of the WHO recommendation and are missing out on crucial nutrition and health benefits.

Adults worldwide should at least double their current consumption of fruits and vegetables to meet the World Health Organisation’s (WHO) minimum recommendation of five servings (400 grams) per day, emphasises a study.


Fruits and vegetables linked to mental well-being


The more portions of fruits and vegetables you take in a day, the better are your chances of improving mental well-being along with your physical health, says a study.

"The data suggest that higher an individual's fruit and vegetable intake the lower the chance of their having low mental well-being," said lead author of the study Saverio Stranges from the University of Warwick in Britain.

The research involved 14,000 participants in Britain aged 16 or over, 56 percent of them females and 44 percent males, as part of the Health Survey for England.

They found that 33.5 percent of respondents with high mental well-being ate five or more portions of fruit and vegetables a day, compared with only 6.8 percent who ate less than one portion.

While 31.4 percent of those with high mental well-being ate three-four portions and 28.4 percent ate one-two.

"These novel findings suggest that fruit and vegetable intake may play a potential role as a driver, not just of physical, but also of mental well-being in the general population," Stranges added.

Low mental well-being is strongly linked to mental illness and mental health problems, but high mental well-being is more than the absence of symptoms or illness; it is a state in which people feel good and function well.

Optimism, happiness, self-esteem, resilience and good relationships are all part of this state.

Mental well-being is important not just to protect people from mental illness but because it protects people against common and serious physical diseases.

Mental well-being was assessed using the Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Well-being Scale (WEMWBS)


Increase consumption of fruits and vegetables to promote health and longevity


Research has revealed that having five daily portions of fruits and vegetables lower the risk of death,however having more than five has no effect at all.The researchers suggest that, as well as advice to eat adequate amounts of fruit and vegetables, the adverse effects of obesity, physical inactivity, smoking and high alcohol


intake on cancer risk should be further emphasized.


Glow your skin by eating colourful diet


A balance diet consisting of fresh fruits and vegetables, healthy fat, protein, gives the accurate quantity of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants that keeps the skin nourished and young, says dermatologist. Consuming a diet that is rich in colourful fruits and veggies, can help protect against ageing of skin.

Red bell pepper and all citrus fruits, tomatoes are rich in Vitamin C, While green vegetables, bright orange vegetables, sweet potatoes have carotenoids. A balanced and nutritious diet is good for glowing complexion.
