Doctors found out a method by which cancer determination turns easier. According to them just a mere blood test is sufficient to determine cancer. They say this is easier and also cost effective compared to current biopsies which are involved with lot of costs.

Doctors say this test will save time and also stops the use of frequent colonoscopies on patients. The new test is popular as Liptosite Genome Sensitivity (LGS) test.


Fashion trends plays major role in rise of skin cancer


Socioeconomic factors and fashion trends played a big role in increasing melanoma cases over the past century revealed in a study.

The author analyzed that social norms, clothing styles, perception of tanned skin, economic trends all are the factors that might also have contributed to rise in reported cases of melanoma in the US. Considering the skin cancer with the help of public education campaign, things can be turned around.

Aspirin reduces the risk of cancer


Taking a daily dose of aspirin reduces the risk of cancer.The study showed that the drug has shown to reduce risk for a number of cancers, chiefly those of the digestive tract. 

The drugs are not currently recommended for otherwise healthy people as a form of cancer prevention.Jack Cuzick, said that taking an aspirin was not an excuse for maintaining an unhealthy lifestyle and said patients should be consulting their GPs before embarking on a daily drug regime. However, he said that, overall, otherwise healthy 50-year-olds should consider aspirins "a good bet" to cut cancer risk.


Discovery of immune cell to fight cancer


A new study has found that highly specialised immune cells, called natural killer cells, can play a critical role in killing melanoma cells that have spread to the lungs. 

These natural killer cells could be harnessed to hunt down and kill cancers that have spread in the body, researchers said.

The team, from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute in Australia, also found natural killer cells were critical to the body's rejection of donor bone marrow transplants and in the runaway immune response during toxic shock syndrome. The discovery will help to determine how natural killer cells can be manipulated to fight cancers and other disorders.
