The Red Thread and the Spiderman: The Registry, The Whispering Shadows, and The Extortion (Part 5)
Just as Barbie Girl was learning to let go, the digital wall crumbled. Out of nowhere, Spiderman unblocked her and called. He announced that he had already booked a flight ticket for her to Malaysia. Caught in a whirlwind of mixed emotions, Barbie Girl quickly packed her bags. Once again, Spiderman’s arrogance took center stage. He boasted that immediately after their official marriage registration at the Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN), they would fly to Bali for a luxury pre-wedding photoshoot and hotel party, followed by a honeymoon in Japan. He even added a sweet promise: every single cent she had spent on the grueling document process back in Indonesia would be fully reimbursed the moment she landed in Malaysia.
In August 2022, Barbie Girl flew back to Malaysia. Spiderman picked her up, and they went straight to the Indonesian Embassy (KBRI) in Kuala Lumpur to submit her hard-earned paperwork. However, they were met with hostility. A female officer stared at them with a glaring, terrifying look, coldly rejecting the documents. She sharply told Barbie Girl to take them to the KBRI in Johor Bahru, adding a grim warning that even there, the papers might not be accepted. Stepping in with his usual pompous attitude, Spiderman blindly demanded a simple stamp on the spot. The intimidating officer obliged, costing them a pointless 50 Ringgit. Fortunately, when they finally traveled to the KBRI in Johor Bahru, the documents were accepted smoothly without a single issue.
With the embassy’s letter in hand, they proceeded to JPN to officially register their marriage. They were granted a wedding date in November 2022. To ensure her social visit visa would automatically renew and cover the two-month waiting period, they took a quick trip across the border to Singapore. However, a major obstacle soon arose: they could not find any witnesses for the legal ceremony. Desperate, a high school friend of Spiderman, whom we shall call Sally Marcelina, offered a solution. She connected them with her friend’s brother and nephew to act as the legal witnesses. For the sake of the story, let us call them Shahrukh Khan (the father) and Syahrul Khan (the son).
The day finally arrived, and they were legally wed at JPN. After the ceremony, the young witness, Syahrul Khan, eagerly offered to take photos of the newlyweds. Though they politely declined his offer, he stubbornly insisted on snapping the pictures anyway. But the joyous occasion was instantly soured right after the wedding. Syahrul Khan sent the digital photos via WhatsApp, followed by a shocking demand: he was extorting them, boldly asking for a whopping 600 Ringgit for the unsolicited photography. Stunned, Spiderman fired back, stating he thought it was a genuine act of kindness from a friend’s family, and that he never would have agreed if he knew it was a paid service. In the end, Spiderman only handed over about 150 Ringgit, leaving a bitter taste on what was supposed to be their special day...
