They were officially married. By law, Barbie Girl was now his wife. But the grand promises of a flight to Indonesia, a luxury pre-wedding photoshoot, a lavish hotel party, a honeymoon in Japan, and a secure life crumbled into dust. The promise to reimburse her for the expensive document stamps was forgotten. Even the basic necessity of paying for electricity and running water in his haunted house remained untouched. It was all a mirage. The reality that hit them next was the harsh bureaucratic wall of immigration, and with it, Spiderman’s ultimate humiliation.

To stay in Malaysia, Barbie Girl needed a spouse visa, which required Spiderman to act as her financial sponsor. At the immigration office, Spiderman arrogantly flaunted his past Changi Airport payslips. But the officers were not easily fooled. When they checked his actual bank accounts, they found a staggering zero. He had no monthly income and absolutely no savings. In a pathetic attempt to shift the blame, Spiderman erupted in anger, accusing Barbie Girl of draining his wealth by marrying him. This sparked a fiery confrontation; Barbie Girl had never asked him for a single cent in her entire life. Even the immigration officers were left bewildered—how could a man work for over 40 years in Singapore and end up with absolutely nothing?

The bitter irony burned deep. Barbie Girl vividly remembered a recent taxi ride where Spiderman had boastfully bragged to the driver that his monthly salary was 3,500 Singapore Dollars. Now, facing total exposure, Spiderman finally confessed the dark truth. He revealed that during the period when they had first broken off their engagement, he had been targeted by a Filipina maid—let us call her Marry—who operated as part of a professional scamming syndicate and worked as a prostitute. Marry claimed she was pregnant with his child, sending fake ultrasound results obtained through a corrupt doctor. In reality, the child belonged to Marry’s own cousin in the Philippines, engineered entirely to extort money from vulnerable men like him.

From 2013 to 2020, Spiderman had been completely drained, bled dry until he was nothing but skin and bones, supporting Marry's entire extended family. He never married her, but his name was legally stamped as the father on the child’s birth certificate—a document manufactured by Marry’s own relatives. Hearing this, Barbie Girl finally understood everything. When she had sent him the photo of his picture encircled by her prayer beads years ago, Spiderman had genuinely believed she possessed indigo powers, realizing that he desperately needed her prayers to break the curse of his own making.

Sitting with the heavy truth, a profound sense of injustice washed over Barbie Girl. She remembered how cruelly he had rejected her, calling her an "old dog" and claiming she wasn't good enough because she couldn't speak fluent English. Yet, the woman he had blindly thrown all his life savings to was a professional scammer whose physical appearance was rough and masculine, and who couldn't speak proper English either. Spiderman had fallen blindly for a facade, manipulated by a scammer who daily uploaded photos on Facebook while holding a Bible, using faith as a weapon to blind a foolish man while a pure, honest heart was cast aside...
